South Otago High School offers many co-curricular activities for its students. Education is not just about what happens in the classroom and we offer many opportunities for students outside of the classroom.
We pride ourselves on our strong Kapa Haka group as well as the many successes we have had in the Manu Korero competition over the years.
We offer a wide range of sports for our students.
As well as being an important part of the curriculum there are many activities outside of the classroom available to our students.
Our students have do particularly well in this area especially in the Shakespeare competitions.
Our students have the opportunity to publish work in school based publications, as well as entering national writing competitions. We contribute work to the school pages in the Otago Daily Times annually.
Education outside the Classroom
There are many trips and activities organized throughout the year that add so much to the education of our students. Examples of this are the outdoor education trips for both Year 9 and Year 10, the Geography field trips, visits to the Observatory and to the Portobello Aquarium and much more.
