Home Stay for International Students

All of the international students who attend South Otago High School lodge with a local family, most of whom also have children at the school. We view this as an essential part of the experience we provide for international students as it gives them a really good feel for the way of life here in rural New Zealand. All of our international students enjoy the homestay experience, and students and their homestay families are well supported by the staff here at school.

South Otago High School has been very fortunate in that it has maintained a large core of homestay families who have provided a very good quality service. Many have a long association with the international programme and are very experienced at supporting international students. Being a small community assists the school in ensuring the quality of homestay carers. The Student Liaison/Homestay Coordinator ensures the high quality, our school is noted for, is maintained.
