The sign-up for Boys’ Rugby was completed this week. At this stage it seems we will maintain our 2 U14 teams, although numbers are down on last year. If any other U14 player wishes to play but didn’t sign up, they will need to come to the U14 Rugby meeting next week and collect an information newsletter. Two U14 teams also depend on finding another U14 coach or coaches. Please contact me at school or home if you are interested.
Pre-season training continues next week. The 1st XV have moved to twice weekly, on Monday and Wednesday at 6pm. The 1st XV trial will be held on Monday, March 22nd. The U15s are also moving to twice weekly from next week. Trainings are now on Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm. In lieu of this week’s training, U15 players are asked to meet at the Grandstand at the Showgrounds on Sunday at 10am. U14s will maintain their training on Tuesday at 4pm.
Once teams have been sorted over the next couple of weeks, we will organise pre-season matches. The first round of the various competitions is on Saturday, April 24.
The SOHS Rugby Club will hold its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, March 30 at 7.30pm at SOHS. The Rugby Club is the chance for parents and supporters to come along and be informed about SOHS rugby, as well as have their say. We are hoping for lots of new parents at the meeting.

Year 11 students should have brought home the information concerning the trip to Dunedin for the Dare Drive to Survive Expo on Wednesday 17th March. We apologise that information about this was not available earlier, but there has been some urgent work being done to access some funding to make this trip possible for all students. We thank the Balclutha Blue Light and Balclutha DARE for supporting us so that we can keep the cost to a minimum of $5 per student to ensure all students are able to go.
This Expo is highly recommended and the Clutha District Council and Police are strongly encouraging our students to attend. Would you please make sure that the consent form with $5 is returned to school by Monday.
