On Wednesday night, 10 members of the Astronomy class travelled to Dunedin for our first observatory visit of the year. We visited the Beverly-Begg observatory with two Dunedin Astronomical Society members. The weather was great and after an informative talk while we waited for it to get dark, we did some observing. We were able to use the main telescope at the observatory as well as a portable telescope set up outside. We saw Saturn, Mars and many stars as well as putting the telescope through its paces. Overall a great experience and hopefully the first of many! Big thanks to Mrs Felts for keeping an eye on the Year 11s in town and driving.
