Gifted and Talented Programme- Physical Education
The aim of PE Gate this year was to introduce students to new skills that they would hopefully develop an interest in, continuing in their own time. Ten Year 9 students were selected to take part in a day long Rock Climbing course in Invercargill. Students learned the skill of climbing, tying figure eights and belaying their peers. The group was also challenged to a very high abseil in some heavy winds and they also got to see part of the Tour of Southland.
A small group of Year 10 students had great weather for four surfing lessons in Dunedin. The group can stand on their surf boards and catch waves and all are eager to continue to develop their surfing skills out of school. Thank you to Mr McLeod who accompanied the students to their lessons.
