The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ by Stieg Larsson is the first book in the Millennium Trilogy. Disgraced journalist Mikael Blomqvist is hired to investigate the disappearance of a young girl over 40 years previously. Her uncle suspects someone in the family murdered her. Mikael realises that Harriet’s disappearance is not a single event, but rather linked to a series of gruesome murders in the past. He crosses paths with Lisbeth Salander, a 24 year old pierced and tattooed, anti-social computer hacker. Together they form an unlikely team as they come closer to learning the truth about Harriet Vanger’s disappearance. A great read.
