From the Librarian

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson is a heartbreaking story about two girls, Lia and Cassie. Cassie dies alone in a motel room as a direct result of anorexia. Lia has 33 unanswered calls on her phone from Cassie on the day she died. As Lia tries to come to terms with what has happened she starts to go down the same path as Cassie – to be thin, strong and in control – and completely empty. This is a powerful novel that does not glamorize self-destructive behaviours’ – the language is raw and descriptive.
