Rugby

This is the final edition of the rugby newsletter for 2010, with the season having now been completed for all teams. It culminated with the South Island U15 Co-Ed Tournament, held in Canterbury over the past week. The SOHS team performed exceptionally well, winning all 4 pool matches without conceding a point. We then beat arch-rivals, Dunstan in the semi, before losing to Waimea in the final. Results were:
Beat Darfield High School 42-0
Beat Roncalli College 20-0
Beat Lincoln High School 20-0
Beat Ashburton College 32-0
Beat Dunstan High School 21-5
Lost to Waimea College 0-20
It was an awesome team effort from the boys, who were also Otago U15 champions. Regan Hunter was named as Most Valued Player for SOHS, while 3 players – Sam Mills, Caelib Edwards and Reuben McLay – made the tournament team. Well done to everyone involved.

I will be giving out information on the 2011 Australian Rugby Tour next week. To be eligible, players must be Year 11 or above in 2011. The trip will be in the April holidays. We will most likely be based in Queensland and play two matches. We will also look to take two teams – a 1st XV and U16 team. Anyone interested will need to pay a $100 non-refundable deposit to book a place on the tour. Any interested parents are also welcome.

Finally, players are reminded that Sports photos will be taken on Monday. Jerseys will be provided for most teams, but players need clean shorts and socks. Boots are not required.
