4th December

Today the school has launched its new website. The new site is much more informative and there will be a wealth of information for both students and parents to be found there. We are putting detailed calendars relating to school events as well as information about curriculum, sports and cultural events up there. I extend my thanks to Mr Zani and Miss Frisby, who have been the lead players in the website redevelopment. I think it looks great.

Year 10 Outdoor Education went very well. I was impressed by the way that students and teachers worked in together to enjoy the opportunities that were on offer. Although the weather did not always cooperate, there was a positive atmosphere on all of the trips. My thanks to the parents whose prompt payment of fees allowed these activities to proceed.

Mr Lennox Sharp has accepted a promotion and will take up his role as Deputy Principal of East Otago High School at the start of 2010. Lennox has been a passionate teacher and advocate of Geography, he has been a caring and approachable Year 9 Dean and he has looked after our international students programme. He will be missed from all of these roles. After 15 years of service to the school we will send him off in style. We will also ensure that we take him up to his new school and hand him over in the appropriate manner.

The Junior Production is now taking centre stage. Students and teachers can be found rehearsing their lines and building stage sets. The performances will take place on Tuesday 8th December. More information can be found elsewhere in this edition of the newsletter.

Junior Prizegiving will take place on Friday 11th December. The ceremony will commence at 2.00pm. May I extend a warm invitation to parents who are able to attend to join us and celebrate the successes of our Year 9 and 10 students.
