5th March
This week we had the first meeting of our Parent Teacher Association for this year. This group is ably led by Shona Preddy (Chairperson), Karen Forbes (Secretary) and Cindy May (Treasurer) We had a strong turn out of parents who are keen to help make the school a better place. The annual general meeting will take place early in term 2 and I hope that many of you will be able to attend. Watch this space for details.
The Year 10 Parent Information evening was well attended. The staff enjoyed the opportunity to share with the parents who came along, information about what happens at school.
The School Council has made a positive start by organising and running the Year 9 and Year 10 Touch competitions. These have been held during the lunch hour. They have been well supported by the students and have provided some entertaining and competitive games.
The range of opportunities that are available to students these days is huge. On Thursday I had the opportunity to sit in on both the Kiwi Host and the Site Safe courses that were on offer to some of our Year 13 students. I was delighted to see the mature approach that our seniors took to gaining an insight into how a modern workplace functions.
With the days slowly shortening, the winter sports season will soon be upon us. There is something on offer for every student who wants to take part. Students need to watch the school notices and this newsletter for information about how to sign up, teams selection, trials etc.
Have a good week.
