The time traveler's wife by Audrey Niffenegger
The Time Traveler's Wife is an account of the life story of two people. Henry is a man with many problems. The main one is that he keeps popping in and out of existence to other times. This can be a problem when you leave someone behind. Clare has know Henry since she was six and he was 36.
I enjoyed this book because it has a good storyline, though it keeps on flipping from one time to another. Its for people who like romances with an interesting science-fiction theme. This book is definitely worth reading. It is also acceptable for NCEA Wide Reading level 2.

Hetty - A True Story by Hetty E Verolme
Hetty was 12 years old when her family was rounded up by the Nazis in the Netherlands. Her family were sent to the notorious Bergen Belsen Concentration Camp. Eventually her parents were sent to other camps and Hetty was left with her two younger brothers to care for. She became surrogate mother to all the children in the Children's House at Belsen. Hetty is an abridged version of "The Children's House of Belsen". This book is a very moving and personal account of one family's struggle through the horrors of World War II. Hetty and her family showed extraordinary courage in the face of horrors we can never even begin to imagine. While not an enjoyable topic the book is worth reading, Other reads similar to this: The Diary of Anne Frank; The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas; The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom.

Synopsis
For lovers of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Series this is a great next read. Two races of vampires walk our world. One, the Moroi, are alive and wield elemental magical. The other, the Strigoi, are undead and evil--feeding on the innocent to survive. Rose Hathaway--a half-vampire with poor impulse control--is training to be a bodyguard for a Moroi princess. Learning to decapitate and stake is hard enough, but Rose's real danger may lie in an illicit romance with one of her instructors..
I enjoyed reading the series - there were interesting characters, romantic plot lines, intrigue, murder and of course, Vampires. I always feel that the sign of a good series is that you are really can't wait to read the next book. The book is aimed, primarily, at teenage girls but there was enough in the storyline to keep me engaged.
