Ex-Pupils and Friends of South Otago High School
South Otago High School has always had an active Ex-pupils Association. Over the years they have been the driving force behind our many successful school reunions. The 75th Anniversary of the school was celebrated in 2001 with over 1200 ex-pupils and friends of the school enjoying four sunny days, full of events, over the Easter break.
The Association has helped ex-pupils to set up their own private class reunions and has also been supportive of other schools in the area that have had recent reunions. They have also presented the school with money to boost the prize fund – especially for the Dux and Proxime Accessit.
Each year two newsletters are sent out to ex-pupils who have paid a small fee. The newsletter has historical and current information about the school. A database exists which has the names of every student who ever attended SOHS and also, has attached, another database with the current addresses of many ex-pupils and staff. This has been an amazing tool for getting reunions started.
