Boy's Cricket

The 1st XI gets its 2022/23 campaign underway this weekend with the McCullum Cup T20 tournament in Dunedin.

The team has two matches tomorrow (Saturday), which will see us face St Kevin's at 11:00 and Logan Park at 2:00 (both games at Tonga Park). We will have two matches on Sunday, the first of which is against Taieri (Kensington Oval, 10:00 start) and the second of which will be determined by how we fare in our first three games. The second game on Sunday will definitely be played at Tonga Park or Kensington Oval and will start at 1:45. The team to contest the McCullum Cup is:

Kane Benington, Geordie Bennett, Will Clark, Finn Gilder, Morgan Huddleston, Jethro Melville, Alec Mills, Hayden Sheppard, Luis Smales, Archie Smith, Balin Wood

The boys and I would appreciate any support!

Saturday cricket will begin on 29 October and will be played over six consecutive Saturdays. This season, we will be stepping up into the Open Schools grade, which means games will start at 1:00 and will be 40 overs a side. It is possible that we will have to rotate players if we are getting decent numbers at practices. If your son is going to be unavailable on any Saturday between 29 October and 10 December, it would be helpful if he could let me know as soon as possible so I know not to include him on that particular day.

Practices will happen here at school every Thursday between 3:30 and 5:00 - rain or shine. I also urge players to keep up with the school notices, which are read out in Mentoring time and available on the school portal - this will be my main method of communication, in addition to the school newsletter.
