Raising Awareness About the Catlins Bat Project

Bat project is the work of Marco Smales in Year 9. This work was part of their conservation assessment. 

These bats are theataned so they need our help The main threats to this species is predators and forestry workers destroying their habitat so you can help by traping and getting rid of animals like stoats. The catlins bat project is a project run by the TCAS students. They learn all about the bats and find ways to help. They also help with studying the bat.

How can you help?

You don't need to be involved with the bat project, but you can still help by protecting cabbage trees and other native trees, spreading the word about these bats and provide shelter for them by building a bat box. You can learn to build a bat box by watching the video below.
