Boys Cricket Update

The 1st XI played against an Otago Boys' side at Seddon Park, Mosgiel last Saturday.

Put in to bat, we were bowled out for 156, falling well short of batting out our 40 overs. A number of batsmen made starts without being able to push on to bigger things. Finn Gilder top-scored with 30 and Geordie Bennett made it to 25, thanks in part to a couple of towering sixes. Kingston Davis also made an impressive debut with some valuable lower-order runs. Our effort in the field was much stronger and what ultimately decided the result. The bowling was tight for the most part and we managed to hold most of the catches that came our way - Luka May (also on debut) managed to take a couple. Wickets fell at regular intervals and ultimately we managed to bowl Otago Boys' out for 116 - a 40-run victory. With the ball, the ultra-consistent Will Clark took three scalps, while Kane Benington, Archie Smith and Balin Wood all took two apiece.

Tomorrow, we have our first home game of the season. We will be welcoming Logan Park HS, with the game set for a 1:00 start. The boys have been asked to be at the ground BY 12:30 so we can have a good fielding practice before getting stuck in. Any support from the public will be welcome and appreciated.
