NCEA Change Update

You may have read in the news that the Ministry of Education has announced there will be changes to the new NCEA program.

What this means is that:

  • The new Level 1 standards will be taught next year to our Year 11 students.
  • Students will be able to gain Literacy or Numeracy in 2024 through the new standards or by completing a “digital exam style” assessment. This is instead of only through a “digital exam style” assessment.
  • The Level 2 standards will remain the same in 2024 and 2025.
  • The Level 3 standards will remain the same in 2024, 2025 and 2026.

Regardless of the changes to the NCEA system we will be working to ensure all students have an individual pathway through senior school to give them the best chance of success.

Nigel Scarth - Deputy Principal.
