NZ Careers Expo

Each year we take students to the New Zealand Careers Expo, this is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain exposure to a huge range of potential career pathways.

There are many exhibitors there to provide students with information about how to work towards a career in their industry.

Usually we take a bus of year 11 students to this event, however due to the rostering home action scheduled for the same date as the NZ careers expo (Year 11 & 12 rostered home  - 28th June 2023), we cannot guarantee this would be able to occur for year 11, even if the industrial action was halted it takes a great deal of time to organise the event and we are too close to the event. We strongly recommend that any year 11s or 12s who are able to attend and/or are unsure of what they want to do for a pathway after school make their own way to the event in Dunedin at the Town Hall during the day, the event is from 9am - 3pm and it is open to the public.

We will instead be taking year 10, they have received their permission slips on Monday 12th June, payment and permission slips must be in by Monday 19th to secure their seat on the bus. Normal classes will be running and attendance is entirely optional. See attached copy of the slip for further information. Please note years 9 and 10 are being rostered home on Monday 19th June so they will either need to bring the slip back by Friday OR pop into the office on the Monday to bring it.

This is a great opportunity for year 10 students as it will provide them with inspiration for their future pathways and hopefully help them when selecting their NCEA subjects going into year 11 next year.

Ngā mihi,

Melissa Murdoch
