In the next few newsletters I am going to highlight some of the courses that our students take part in on a Friday and the lessons that take place within school.
This week's focus is the Grass Karts course in Gore on a Friday. The course is run by Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) and offers hands-on experience in a tertiary setting. In this course students learn about 2 and 4 stroke engines, welding, kart design and teamwork. During the course students get the opportunity to learn credits and skills that will be useful as they move into the world of work. Once the Grass Kart is completed the highlight is racing these karts against other students from their class and from other courses.
