The next three weeks will look at different ways to summarise.

Students need lots of practise processing what they are reading and summarising is a wonderful way to do this. Maybe you could ask your child to summarise something they have read or watched this week?

What we’re reading: Mr Deverson has been rereading a series he read as a teen by Stephen Donaldson called Thomas Covenant The Unbeliever. He wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to his students but it’s nice to see an English teacher having time to read something for themselves, and not just books for work! And another teacher re-reading an old favourite!

Screen-Free activity of the week: Speed crossword or codecracker! Each person gets the same crossword or codecracker puzzle and it’s a race to see who can finish it first or get the most words in a set amount of time.
