Boys Football Tournament Report

The boys tournament team were based in Dunedin and had 6 games in 4 days.

We were a young team, composed of mainly Year 10's and Year 11's, whilst the other teams were well established senior teams full of Year 12's and Year 13's. This means that it was always going to be difficult to compete. However, we learnt heaps during the tournament and look forward to improving in the coming years.

We had close games against Mountain View, a 1 - 0 loss, that could easily have gone either way, and St Kevins where a 4 - 1 loss didn’t fully reflect the game.

Giving the most Valuable Player was a very difficult decision. So many players had stepped up in many different ways.  Our MVP was Gabriel McCone for being outstanding in defence. The top scorer and golden boot was Matt Simmonds.

A big thanks to our sponsors Night and Day Balclutha. And many thanks from me to Danny Simmonds for coaching during the week. Another thank you to Liz Simmonds and Julie Wendelgelst for all of their organising and co-ordination.
