South Otago Careers Expo

South Otago High School have organised a career expo that will be running in the school hall on Monday 16th October.

This expo is open to the community from 4pm until 6pm.

All SOHS students will have a timetabled period of time to experience the expo during the school day, some primary schools are also bringing in some students to come and explore.

The idea is not to provide an answer to the “what will you be when you grow up” question, but to provide a deeper understanding and confidence that their futures can be anything they want it to be, along a winding path of different choices.

We have arranged for a great range of different employers and industry representatives to showcase options for students to get excited for. We believe that it is incredibly important for our rangatahi to be exposed to as many options as possible throughout their learning journey so they are aware of the diversity of pathways available to them. There will be local employers present as well as Dunedin employers; including people who will be representing the new hospital build in Dunedin which will be looking for people to fill hundreds of positions on the project.

If you are a local employer and keen to get involved with a stall please get in touch with Ruth Carraway ([email protected]) or Melissa Murdoch ([email protected]).

We look forward to seeing a fantastic community turn out in the evening and know our students will benefit from the experience.
