2023/2024 Cricket Season Underway

The 2023/24 cricket season got underway last weekend, with the 1st XI travelling to Dunedin for the McCullum Cup T20 pre-season tournament. Over the two days, the team won two matches and lost two matches, which placed it 5th out of 7 teams. Highlights across the two days included:- The Saturday morning match against Otago Boys' HS Red coming down to the last ball. Unfortunately, we couldn't secure the four runs needed to get over the line.

- Luis Smales scoring 80* in that same match.

- A comprehensive 8-wicket win over old foes Logan Park HS - largely the result of a disciplined bowling/fielding effort and 42* from Jethro Melville.

- A strong effort in the field against Taieri College, which led to victory. Some miserly bowling from Ruben Pelser at the death rates a mention.

A big thank you to Kay Wood for driving the boys through to Dunedin both days and to Mr Matsas, who has taken over as the head coach of the 1st XI, bringing with him a great deal of enthusiasm.

Saturday cricket gets underway tomorrow with the side playing against Logan Park HS at Seddon Park, Mosgiel.

The van will be leaving SOHS at 11:30 and the match will start at 1:00.
