Supporting Wellbeing

John Kirwan was in Balclutha on Thursday morning speaking at a community event, sponsored by Westpac in collaboration with Business South and held at Te Pou Ō Mata-Au.

He shared some really good tips, looking after our mental health and supporting others is important. 

  • He mentioned six pillars that support his wellbeing.
  • Chill- We all have different things that we can do to help us relax, like reading, playing an instrument, hobbies, cooking.
  • Enjoy- Take time to do the  little things that bring us joy
  • Celebrate- You are awesome, we are awesome and have lots to celebrate about ourselves and others
  • Move- Walk the dog, gardening, sports and exercise.
  • Do- Things for the brain, learn and develop.
  • Connect- Get together with others, technology connections that we have control over.
  • He encourages us to do one thing at a time.
