Girls Football

Both our first and second eleven girls football teams are showing the benefit of their hard work over the last few months. After both teams lost their first two games of the season they demonstrated real tenacity and progress yesterday.

The first eleven drew 2 all with Trinity College. An Early goal from Ashlee Anderson was followed by an own goal brought about by some excellent pressure from Zoe Brown. Trinity then came back into the game and piled a lot of pressure onto us. Late goals in each half saw them share the points with us but it was a very determined defensive effort from our team. Player of the day for us was Katie Murray who really led the defensive effort but it was, as the cliche says, a real team effort.

The second eleven shared a similar outcome. They were ahead 3-1 at halftime against Queens but conceded a late goal to finish at 4 all. Highlights were a player of the day effort by Year 9’s, Tayla Smith in goal and Waniya Khan who scored a hattrick in only her third game for the school. Our other goal was scored by Mia Cable from the Catlin’s Area School. Special mention must also go to the leadership of Ariana Cross and Annaliese Bisset working with this very young team.

Girls’ Basketball

Senior Girls basketball team lost 33-59 to Taieri A. Was close through the first 2 quarters, but fatigue got the best of us in the second half. Our defence was solid and the girls showed some good grit and determination. POD’s were Molly Paterson and Emily Jenkinson.
