CAA results

On Wednesday afternoon the results for the CAA Literacy Reading were released. The Literacy Writing and Numeracy results will be released on Monday July 14th, the first Monday back next term.

Students can access their results by logging into the NZQA learner login portal - not the school portal. It is important that students become familiar with accessing the NZQA website and their learner login as this is the first place for external assessments, like the CAAs and the end of year NCEA exams, to report results.

All three assessments are Unit Standards, which means the only available results are Not Achieved or Achieved.

Students need to achieve both Reading and Writing to achieve Literacy overall. Achieving in the Numeracy assessment gives students their Numeracy qualification. Students who did not pass a Literacy or Numeracy assessment will be given another opportunity in September. All students who have not gained Level 1 Literacy or Numeracy yet will be entered into the September round of the CAAs.

The official standard titles of these assessments are:

Demonstrate understanding of ideas and information in written texts - this is READING

Write texts to communicate ideas and information - this is WRITING

University Entrance (UE) Literacy

To gain UE Literacy students must gain 10 Literacy credits in standards at Level 2 or Level 3 with Literacy ‘attached’ to them. Students must gain 5 Reading credits and 5 Writing credits.

This week mentors and teachers have been having conversations with Year 12 and 13 students to check where they are tracking towards gaining UE Literacy. It is important that students are aware of where they are at and which standards they are completing in their classes which count towards their UE Literacy.
