There are many agencies in our wider community that support our students and their families.
Schools that have effective wellbeing practices offer layers of support. Our pastoral system has a whole school approach that supports student wellbeing and we encourage students and whanau to ask for help. We collaborate with outside agencies and try to provide up to date information so that people can make informed choices.
One of the agencies that we work alongside is THRIVE TE PAE ORA - https://www.thriveservices.org.nz/
There are a number of online resources to help us with worry and anxiety, stress, sleep, substance use, mental health and general wellbeing.
The referral process is very simple with parents/whanau able to self refer young people online directly with the service.
There are counselling staff that come down from Dunedin and can support young people in a number of different ways, face to face or online.
This service is a free brief intervention service for up to 6 sessions. The staff are well trained and if the service is not right for the young person they have great contacts for what might be most appropriate. Their online resources and links are excellent sources of support for wellbeing and self help.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for a confidential discussion about accessing this service if you would like any guidance and support.
