Here at SOHS we are lucky to have liaisons keen to come to school to discuss different industries and opportunities with our students.
It is a great chance for students who are unsure of their career pathways to come along to hear about an option, worst case scenario they can cross an option off their list, best case is they find their future passion.
- 18th August - we have a representative from the Agricultural Innovation course offered by the University of Otago coming to discuss the course and potential careers that it could lead to. This course could be for anyone interested in agriculture, science, economics and technology because it is all part about being at the cutting edge of innovation in the industry, working to tackle critical food production strategies and making systems more profitable and efficient. Students interested in hearing more should come to A2 at mentor time on Monday.
- Monday 18th August we also have Studylink coming in to speak with our year 13s about how to apply for their student loans and various living costs through them
- 22 August: Students who have returned permission slips will be going to SIT Open Day to explore some of the great fees free options available
- 27th August - we have third year medical students coming in to speak with students about what studying healthcare is like and answering questions students have. This is also an opportunity for students to discuss what healthcare in Clutha is like.
- 4th September - we have a healthcare course coming to school to give a preview of working in the industry to students interested in potentially working in healthcare. Students interested have completed a survey (hopefully) to let Mrs Murdoch know they are interested and they will be given more information next week. Any students who may be interested but have not completed the survey titled "Healthcare career course" that was shared with them on Wednesday should get in touch by email with Mrs Murdoch ASAP.
- 18th September - Clutha Careers Expo
- Date TBC: We have someone from MSD coming in to speak with students interested in learning more about how to apply for jobs, workplace etiquette and other skills such as cover letter and CV creation
