On Thursday we took all students from each year level down to Te Pou Ō Mata-Au to the Clutha District Careers expo.
This was a fantastic event, that grew from an at school expo to a huge event, with approximately 50 stall holders, some from as far away as Auckland.
A diverse range of career pathways were represented including nanotechnology, midwifery, mining, defence force, forestry, beauty therapy, many tertiary providers including most ITOs and many more career positions, as well as some fantastic local employers who are always keen to show off the diverse options in Clutha district.
It is so beneficial for rangitahi to be exposed to as many careers and pathways as possible so they are aware of some of the options they have going into the future. Hopefully there were some meaningful conversations when your student came home.
All the stall holders I spoke to were very impressed with our students, who asked great questions and were consistently polite and genuine - it is wonderful to see our ākonga doing our school proud with their behaviour.
