Geography Year 12 Stewart Island Trip

The year 12 Geography classes spent three days on Rakiura Stewart Island this week.

The purpose of the trip was to collect climate data for their research projects, but time was also spent looking at the environmental issue of pest control as well. Some students even managed to see a kiwi during the daytime on Ulva Island which is a very rare experience.

Overall, the group were well behaved, engaged in the research and learning and represented the school well. There’s always the occasional hi-jinks on these trips, but when your biggest issue was how loud and over competitive, they got during a quiz then you know you’ve taken away a pretty good group.

A big thanks to Mr Beeby, Mr Leather, Miss Wootton and Ms Sheppard for their help and work on the trip.
