Over Easter weekend the school celebrated its centenary
Over 460 ex students and staff attended the weekend event. It was great to see everyone catching up with old friends and classmates. The chairperson for the organising committee, Ken Blair officially opened the event on Easter Saturday. The Kapa Haka group performed and the guest speaker was an ex-student and teacher, Keryn Smith.
The centenary cake was cut by the school's four oldest ex-pupils and the youngest year 9 student.
The ex students all enjoyed reflecting on the various displays including old uniforms and photographs.
Student council members were kept busy providing tours around the school and helping ex pupils find their old class photos.
A memories assembly was held to complete the weekend.
Many thanks to the committee who worked for over a year to organise the event. The members were:
Ken Blair, Lois Copeland, Nikki Cunningham, John Fenby, Marion Gardner, Robyn Gardner, Ivan Martin, Rodd Pearson, Nicola Ryan, Heather Ryder, Suzanne Schofield, Mervyn Jones
Melissa Sheppard, John Douglas, Howie Gardner, Leanne Reichel.
The centenary was a major milestone for the school and this was reflected in the success of the reunion.
