Congratulations to our Year 9 and 10 Academic Achievers who were recognised at breakfast this morning.
This occasion is a wonderful mid-term celebration of our junior students who are meeting and exceeding their academic goals. Well done, we are very proud of you! Keep on demonstrating our school values of Respect, Excellence and Perseverance.
Ms Beaumont spoke to congratulate student efforts. Here is a transcript of what she said;
Good morning and thank you so much for coming! It’s definitely earlier than I’d like to be at school! We are here this morning to celebrate Year 9 and 10 students who have met and exceeded their academic goals. So, even showing up at 7am proves that you are willing to do hard things!
Achievement is not just for the person who crosses the finish line first, but for anyone who puts in their all, doesn’t give up and takes their learning seriously. You have done all of these things. Today is about celebrating your personal excellence— My Year 10s know that I have two things I cannot stand in my classroom: not trying and giving up. I’m so very pleased that you have all demonstrated two of my favourite character traits.
It is easy to accept "good enough." Not pushing yourself to do that little bit extra or try that little bit harder, especially in our world of constant digital distractions and easy digital assistance. But "good enough" is the enemy of growth, and we are here to celebrate the progress you have made so far this year!
You showed respect—respect for your teachers, your learning, and yourselves. You applied excellence, doing the best you could. And of course, you demonstrated perseverance. You kept working when others might have stopped, thinking good enough was good enough.
That mindset is what will carry you far in life; never stop!
So, take a moment this morning to really, really stop and tell yourself, “I did a good job!” because you did. We are incredibly proud of the work you’ve put in! Keep striving, keep pushing, and never, ever settle for "good enough."
Congratulations to you all.
